چکیده

In situ synchrotron X-ray scattering was used to reveal the transient microstructure of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA)/tungsten disulfide inorganic nanotubes (WS2NTs) nanocomposites. This is formed during blow molding process (“tube expansion”) an extruded polymer tube, important step in manufacturing PLLA-based bioresorbable vascular scaffolds (BVS). A fundamental understanding how such a develops processing relevant two unmet needs BVS: increasing strength enable thinner devices and improving radiopacity imaging implantation. Here, we focus on flow generated tube expansion affects orientation WS2NTs formation crystals by comparing neat PLLA nanocomposite tubes under different conditions. Surprisingly, remain oriented along extrusion direction despite significant strain transverse while (c-axis) form circumferential tube. Although promote nucleation tubes, crystallization proceeds with largely same as tubes. We suggest that reason for unusual independence orientations stems from favorable interaction between WS2NTs. leads disperse well strongly orient axis extrusion. As consequence, are aligned orthogonally stretching direction, which appears decouple

Yttria-zirconia coatings studied by grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering during in situ heating.

The morphology of sol-gel derived dip-coated yttria-doped zirconia films containing variable amounts of yttria has been studied using in situ grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS) whilst heated incrementally to 1000 °C. A procedure to analyse in situ GISAXS data has been devised which allows a quantitative analysis of time-dependent GISAXS data tracing processes such as chemic...

Development and Testing of X-Ray Imaging-Enhanced Poly-L-Lactide Bone Screws

Nanosized iron oxide particles exhibit osteogenic and radiopaque properties. Thus, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were incorporated into a biodegradable polymer (poly-L-lactic acid, PLLA) to fabricate a composite bone screw. This multifunctional, 3D printable bone screw was detectable on X-ray examination. In this study, mechanical tests including three-point bending and ultimate tensile stre...

Temperature Assisted in-Situ Small Angle X-ray Scattering Analysis of Ph-POSS/PC Polymer Nanocomposite

Inorganic/organic nanofillers have been extensively exploited to impart thermal stability to polymer nanocomposite via various strategies that can endure structural changes when exposed a wide range of thermal environment during their application. In this abstraction, we have utilized temperature assisted in-situ small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) to examine the structural orientation distribu...

Electrospinning of Poly(L-lactide-co-D, L-lactide)

Electrospinning method was used to fabricate poly(L-lactide-co-D,L-lactide) (PLDLA) nanofiber non-woven membranes. The structure and morphology of the electrospun membranes were investigated by a scanning electron microscope (JEOL) after a gold coating. The diameter of the electrospun fiber was measured by Adobe Photoshop 5.0 software from the SEM pictures. SEM images showed that the fiber diam...
